Deploying the latest technology, capabilities and techniques in conjunction with your knowledge and expertise you will operate at the high end of risk in support of NCA operational activity.

Data recovered from electronic media is critical to the investigation of Serious and Organised Crime. In order to maintain capability the NCA continually develops new techniques to examine and extract data from the most challenging devices. This role forms part of a specialist team tasked with engineering solutions to the problems encountered in relation to the examination of current and emerging digital technologies. Applicants with the requisite knowledge and experience would find this a diverse and rewarding role, with many opportunities for personal development, including relevant training and collaboration with peers in UK and international agencies. Applicants that have knowledge of Android, iOS, Windows or Linux development/reverse engineering, digital security implementation or cryptanalysis would find this role of particular interest.

Your day will include, but not limited to the following:
- Developing innovative software solutions;
- Researching emerging technologies including crypto implementations;
- Participating in implementing and developing new digital forensics methods;
- Upskilling technical colleagues;
- Providing technical support and creating bespoke technical solutions to NCA operations and investigations, including real time and in time-critical situations;
- Provide technical advice and guidance to other Law Enforcement partners;
- Liaise with internal and external partners, across government and industry to build relationships, ensure best practice and explore new ways for working; and
- Developing working practices and operating procedures in line with international accreditation standards (ISO 17025 and 17020) and the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and Conduct

Salary: The salary band for this position is £24,964 to £30,626. Where existing Civil Servants apply on transfer to the NCA at the equivalent grade, pay principles on Civil Service transfers will apply. All other salary offers will be made within the advertised band.

This role is open to External candidates & Civil Servants on lateral & promotion basis.
